Study Materials Review

Awful books, developmentally inappropriate materials, HORRIBLE "customer service", spying on kids Twitter feeds after school hours... The more I experience and see, the more I wonder how this company is allowed to continue to monopolize our children's education!

I took the elementary multi-subject cst exam in early October. When I realized that I wouldn't receive my test score until early 2015, I was a little concerned, but thought the score would be released sometime in January. In early March, "early 2015" wasn't so early...

Pearson Education in Colorado Springs, Colorado - Product inappropriate

Tests do not seem to be developmentally appropriate for grade-level of students. The questions are one to two years above the grade level of children taking the test. If a huge portion of students fail the tests, Pearson can then offer remedial assistance that can be bought by the school districts. What a brilliant way to make even more money. Sounds like a conflict of interest to me. Do not like the secrecy surrounding said tests--parents and teachers cannot see students' tests. Too much invasion of privacy--data collection of children, monitoring social media, etc. It's all very disconcerting and extremely inappropriate. Seems like Pearson has the corner on the market of curriculum, assessment, and remedial materials--quite the profit-driven, corporate machine, over-taking our country's schools. NOT in favor of the Pearson monster at all.

Pearson Education in Calabasas, California - Pearson products are worthless to the consumers who are forced to use them.

Pearson's products are low quality from their tests to Powerschool. The consumer who uses their products are not the people who buy the products, so there is no check and balance on the quality of what you get for your money. The products are so bad that the company has to rely on government mandates to sell them rather than selling of their own accord. The public "thinks" the teachers who use so many of these products choose them, but they don't. The tests are low quality, that only give the most vague picture of student growth and are not given back in any time frame in which an educator can use them. Powerschool is a clunky program that barely keeps up with the Java updates (and sometimes doesn't) that support it. I know high school students who could write better code. It is nothing but an online calculator. Educators are forced to use them because their districts or ISDs contract with them without much if any review of the product before purchase. Their online textbooks are more expensive over time than their paper textbooks. Pearson is a cash cow that does not have to consider what the market will bear because even though their users hate all their products they are forced to use them. Not impressed, not one single bit.

Pearson Education - Library Media Test Review from Valley Cottage, New York

I am a new NY teacher waiting on my CST score for certification. I took my Library Media test Nov 22, 2014. There are very few school media jobs in the state, let alone openings. You are preventing me from applying for the few 2015-16 jobs that are now starting to post. This is bad Ed Practice. We would never pass edTPA without student scoring rubrics in place. You have taken my $139 and given me Nothing!
